Lewis Hamilton, though, will want to improve after another disappointing race. The Briton had qualified in third but received a 10-second penalty for leaving the track while gaining an advantage and was unable to recover to finish eighth.

What is the Sprint race format?
The Sao Paulo Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, is one of six race weekends in 2025 to feature a Sprint. Over a 100km distance, the drivers compete in a fast-moving race designed to encourage lots of overtaking and less strategy.
First to take the chequered flag gets eight points, down to one point for finishing eighth. Sprint qualifying takes place on Friday, with the Sprint race the first track action of the day on Saturday.
Lewis Hamilton recorded his maiden Ferrari win in the China Sprint in March, McLaren’s Lando Norris took the flag in Miami in May and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was first in Belgium in July and in October in the US edition.
After Sao Paulo, the final Sprint of the season is scheduled for Qatar.
