- More One UI 8.5 features have leaked
- Upgrades to the Camera app are rumored
- Network switching could get easier
The significant One UI 8 update (based on Android 16) is continuing to roll out to older Galaxy phones, but One UI 8.5 is already being talked about – and new leaks give us a better idea of three useful features that the software upgrade may bring with it.
As spotted by @achour_hm (via SammyGuru), it looks as though the updated Camera app will bring multiple video presets to the interface. It means you’ll be able to quickly switch between looks like Blockbuster and Thriller with a swipe on the screen.
Another feature has been discovered by @LaidBackDev_ (again via SammyGuru). In this case there are text strings referring to 3D, VR, and spatial media inside the Camera app, suggesting more upcoming functionality – perhaps 3D photo and video capture.
Spatial photos and videos can be captured by the latest iPhones, but you do need an Apple Vision Pro headset to be able to view them properly. With Samsung’s own AR/VR headset in the pipeline, perhaps this feature update is related.
Intelligent networking

Yet another potential One UI 8.5 feature has been found by the SammyGuru team: it would seem the software is going to make the switch between cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity more seamless and straightforward for users.
This will be done via two toggle switches, Intelligent Link Assessment and Intelligent Network Switch, which will leverage AI to decide whether your phone should be connected to cellular networks or an available Wi-Fi network.
This may depend on factors such as the security and speed of the Wi-Fi network, and whether or not you’ve connected to a particular Wi-Fi network before. In theory, the user experience should be improved, and less manual switching will be required.
All these features are subject to change of course, and it’s not yet clear when One UI 8.5 might be made official or start rolling out. It may well make an appearance in January, alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 handsets we’re expecting.
