A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight each day for your time zone – which means that some people are always playing ‘today’s game’ while others are playing ‘yesterday’s’. NYT Strands today (game #572) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #572, are…
- PENDULUM
- GEARS
- CHIMES
- WINDER
- WEIGHTS
- SPANGRAM: GRANDFATHERCLOCK
- My rating: Hard
- My score: 1 hint
I’m sure there were plenty of people playing today’s game who had no idea what a GRANDFATHER CLOCK is and even those among us who did what words we could be searching for.
As someone ridiculously troubled by ticking sounds I’ve never had one or, thankfully, stayed in a house containing one – but I did know that a PENDULUM is a key component. After getting that, however, I was lost so took a hint.
Today’s extra-long spangram is the second 16-letter long beast we’ve had this month following OPPOSITESATTRACT – but still one letter behind the all time leader, BATTERIESREQUIRED from July.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands answers (Thursday, September 25, game #571)

- MESSENGER
- ARCHANGEL
- GUARDIAN
- SERAPH
- SPANGRAM: HEAVENSENT
