A Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 patch could be in the works, judging from some footage of the game recently shared by developer Monolith Soft.
The new footage shared today by the developer on X as part of a hiring ad shows an in-game cutscene featuring different lighting than the original Nintendo Switch release, suggesting that this footage may have been captured from a Nintendo Switch 2 updated version that has yet to be officially announced. However, there’s also the chance that these changes may have only been made for this ad, and no patch is currently in the works, so we shouldn’t get our hopes up too much.
If there’s one entry in the series that would benefit significantly from the Nintendo Switch 2 better specs over its predecessor, it’s definitely Xenoblade Chronicles 2, as it is, still today, one of the most ambitious Nintendo Switch games ever released for the system. The game’s advanced visuals, high quality character models and post-processing and volumetric sea of clouds, however, came at a huge resolution cost that the Nintendo Switch 2 could definitely alliviate. Performance was also hit considerably by these advanced visual features, but at the very least, the Nintendo Switch 2 backward compatibility feature stabilizes framerate in both docked and handheld modes to deliver a slightly improved experience even without a dedicated patch.
Even in its original state, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a role-playing game that is very much worth experiencing for every fan of the genre. You can learn more about it in our review.
