Hisense has unveiled a “baby” version of its monstrous 116UX TV, the 100-inch 100UX. This model has a mini-LED backlight and very high brightness.
The Hisense 100UX is a 4K TV with the company’s proprietary RGB (red-green-blue) backlight. Hisense says it achieves 95% of the BT.2020 color space and up to 8,000 nits peak brightness — just like the 116UX, which goes on sale today.
The TV has HDMI 2.1 connectivity and Wi-Fi 6E. It likely includes the Google TV operating system and the 165Hz refresh rate of the larger size.
I got a hands-on with the 116-inch version and found it hit the brightness levels the company claimed — an industry-leading and eyeball-bleeding 8,000 nits — plus excellent color saturation.
TCL and Hisense are competing for the “really large TV” space, including the 115-inch TCL CNET saw last year. It will be interesting to see if there are similar high-end moves from competitors such as Samsung or LG.
The Hisense 100UX ($19,999) and the Hisense 116UX TV ($29,999) are available now.Â
