Robotaxis will be added to the Uber app outside of the US and China, Uber and Momenta, the self-driving startup, announced on Friday in a new agreement. These robotaxis are expected to start in Europe at the beginning of 2026, with safety operators in the car.
“This collaboration brings together Uber’s global ridesharing expertise and Momenta’s AI-first autonomous driving technology, paving the way for a future where more riders around the world experience the benefits of reliable and affordable autonomous mobility,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a press release.Â

Uber isn’t new to self-driving car partnerships. It just announced one with May Mobility that would make thousands of autonomous cars available on the Uber app over the next few years. That partnership launches in Arlington, Texas, later this year.
Uber also has several other partnerships in this area, including WeRide and Wayve. Uber once even had its own self-driving division, though it sold it in 2020 to Aurora Innovation.
