AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture is set to enter the laptop segment soon, as a new leak discloses six new variants, all targeted at top-tier performance.
AMD Is Reportedly Prepping RDNA 4 Mobile GPUs For Computex Showcase; Leak Unveils Six New Models
Well, Team Red’s latest graphics architecture did see a change in the company’s release schedule relative to previous generations, since not only did we see discrete GPUs being dropped into the market a bit later than usual, but up till now, we haven’t really seen any announcements about RDNA 4 making its way to the mobile segment. Team Red did say in the past that they had plans to release laptop RX 9000 series GPUs, and it seems like the firm has started preparing for them, as @All_The_Watts has shared a list of potential RX 9000 series laptop GPUs, and they sure look interesting.

It is claimed that the top-tier model within the RDNA 4 laptop segment would be the RX 9080M, featuring the Navi 48 silicon, along with 64 Compute Units (CUs) and 16 GB of memory. The other variant in the mobile Navi 48 family is the Radeon RX 9070M XT, which is said to feature 48 CUs and 16 GB of memory. These two models are expected to lead AMD into the laptop market and will likely serve as counterparts to NVIDIA’s 70-class and 80-class mobile GPUs, but the performance of these variants is uncertain for now.

Next up are the more “mid-tier” Radeon RX 9070 M/S models, which are to be part of the Navi 44 series, featuring 32 CUs along with 8 GB of memory onboard. Finally, the low-to-mid segment includes the Radeon RX 9060 M/S variants, featuring 28 CUs and 8 GB of memory, so it’s clear that the baseline VRAM for RX 9000 series laptop models will be 8 GB. However, taking this rumor with a grain of salt is important, given that details around RDNA 4 mobile models are pretty uncertain for now.
AMD has relied on the RDNA 3.5 architecture for its APUs like the Strix Halo and the upcoming Medusa Point series, so in the integrated GPU segment, we won’t see RDNA 4 anytime soon. However, for AMD’s Radeon 9000M mobile GPU lineup, we do expect an unveiling sometime soon, likely at Computex 2025, where we’ll also see the debut of the Radeon RX 9060 discrete GPU lineup.
