Following widespread outages for Spotify users on Wednesday, numerous Zoom users also reported that the online meeting service was down. The outage appeared to extend to the Zoom website, customer support and email services.
As of 5 pm ET, Zoom services appear to have been restored. According to Zoom’s own status page, all tools are now up and running.
Though these issues prevented many Zoom users from making it to their online meetings, it’s not clear what went wrong with the service or why the problem was so widespread. Spotify users faced similar issues and although the music streaming service has been restored, the company isn’t providing many details on what happened at this time.
Downdetector still provides an easy way to see the history of the Zoom outage that struck today. Users from Michigan, California, Texas, Nevada and New Jersey all commented online that they were unable to use Zoom at their locations. As of Wednesday evening, users were reporting that they had to reboot their Zoom services to full restore functionality.
