The professional overclocker, Seby, achieved a whopping 12772 MT/s with Trident Z5 memory on ROG Maximus Z890 Apex motherboard.

The world-class overclocker, Hicookie, couldn’t retain the number one position on the leaderboard for long as Seby just came up with a higher number, securing the top spot with 12772 MT/s of memory speed. Previously, Hicookie managed to achieve a good 12762 MT/s of DDR5 memory speed using XPG Lancer RGB DDR5 memory, and it remained the best for hardly two weeks.

Seby is also a well-known overclocker, who broke Hicookie’s world record by pushing the G.Skill Trident Z5 memory to 12772 MT/s with optimal timings. G.Skill proudly boasts about this new achievement since V-Color Xfinity Manta RGB memory has been dominating the memory world records for a while.

Seby used a single 24 GB memory module on a setup, consisting of Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Apex. The memory speed has been submitted to HWBot and is also validated on CPU-Z. The final memory timings were CL68-127-127-127-2, which is fine but is quite higher due to such a high frequency. Keep in mind that pushing memories to over 12000 MT/s may not have any noticeable effects on performance, since it comes at the expense of higher latency.

Overclockers usually do this as a hobby and to test the potential of the hardware. G.Skill has several lineups featuring high-speed modules such as the Trident Z5 Neo, Trident Z5 Royal, and Ripjaws series. G.Skill itself has been doing in-house overclocking and stuff regularly to reach higher memory speeds, but achieving 12772 MT/s requires much more effort.

Seby utilized liquid nitrogen cooling on the CPU and memory, similar to what other overclockers have been doing. The memory speed is also highly dependent on CPU and motherboard, and usually you would need a high-end Z890 motherboard to even push speeds beyond 10,000 MT/s.
