With the competition in the telecommunication sector intensifying, each player is trying to establish itself as the go-to carrier, even if that involves outdoing each other. Telecommunication service providers are constantly fighting to win over customers. T-Mobile, especially, has been aggressively working towards making changes to its processes to improve efficiency. Many Verizon customers switched over to T-Mobile for better 5G performance, improved network coverage, and relatively flexible plans. Now Verizon is determined to gain back its lost customers and, in its latest promotion, is targeting specific customers that T-Mobile lured.
Verizon has a promotion going on that is targeted at the customers it lost to T-Mobile
Customers generally stick to their service providers unless offered a very enticing deal that has greater perks than their current carrier. Customers who are genuinely frustrated with the current services are also likely to transition. While Verizon remained a leader in network coverage, T-Mobile brought many noteworthy changes and ended up improving its coverage to a point where, in some areas, the carrier was even better than Verizon. Through constant efforts to improve its plans and services, it was able to win over many customers who remained loyal to Verizon for quite some time.
Now Verizon is reaching out to its former customers who switched to T-Mobile and offering them $500 as an incentive to return. A T-Mobile customer took it to Reddit to share about the offer sent via email, not just once but about four times in the last two weeks. When inquired about the promotion, the Verizon representative explained how basically the amount of $500 would be available in bill credits that would be spread over a period of 36 months, translating to roughly $14 per month.
The T-Mobile customer shared how the deal was not good enough to make them switch and expressed being relieved that they are no longer with Verizon:
I literally laughed and told him that’s a horrible deal to switch back. He also said I was eligible for a new free line if I come back and buy a new phone.I’m so glad to be away from them. I can’t believe I was about to be locked in to them for another 27 months.
Many other T-Mobile customers reacted to the post and suggested that they would not return even if offered $1000 owing to their poor customer service and pushy sales tactics. While it does make sense that customers would not switch over for an amount that low and be stuck with Verizon for three years, some frustrated T-Mobile users might make the switch, given how lately the carrier has also been pushing its customers for T-Life adoption and even raised prices for some of its legacy plans.
Verizon is not only trying to win back its former customers with the $500 offer but also took a dig at T-Mobile for not sticking to its price lock guarantees, and to make the promotion even more appealing; it is offering those who switch for four free iPhone 16 units. It is yet to be seen if these attempts will be in vain or fruitful, but the timing seems to be on point given how T-Mobile has lately been criticized for its increasing rates.
