Netflix spend billions of dollars annually on original content in 2024, and that investment has resulted in a huge catalog of great movies in the past few years, from summer blockbusters like Hit Man to thrilling fan favorites like Back In Action and Carry-On. The platform’s original films have started to dominate industry awards shows like the Oscars and the Golden Globes, too; this year, six Netflix originals received a total of 18 Oscar nominations.
So what’s in store for February? The month kicks off with Amy Schumer’s new Netflix original comedy Kinda Pregnant, and the Witcher franchise gets a new entry with the animated feature The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep on Feb. 11. There are also dozens of great library titles coming to the platform, like Bong Joon-ho’s 2019 Best Picture Oscar winner Parasite, a take on Princess Diana and a zombie thriller Train to Busan. Take a look below at some of the biggest films coming to Netflix in February, from its newest originals to older titles that have been freshly acquired.
Director Bong Joon-ho’s darkly funny psychological thriller Parasite won the Best Picture Oscar in 2019 (along with the awards for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature). The film, about a poor family who infiltrates the home and lives of a wealthy family, arrives on Netflix on Feb. 1.
Amy Schumer stars in the new comedy Kinda Pregnant as Lainy, a woman who gets so jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy that she starts wearing a prosthetic baby bump. Her lie spirals out of control when she meets the man of her dreams and has to keep up the ruse that she’s pregnant. The film, which is produced by Adam Sandler, co-stars Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., and Brianne Howey.
Pablo Larraín’s most recent film Maria, which arrived to Netflix last year, is a biopic of opera superstar Maria Callas told in flashbacks during the final week of her life. The film marked the third in his trilogy about iconic 20th century women. Before Maria, he made the acclaimed 2021 film Spencer, about one particularly tumultuous weekend in the life of Princess Diana (Kristen Stewart) as the Royal contemplated ending her marriage to then-Prince Charles. The film joins Maria on the streaming platform on Feb. 8.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep (Feb. 11)
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is an animated film based on the adventures of Geralt of Rivia and other favorite Witcher characters. The 90-minute film, which premieres on Feb. 11, will feature voice actor Doug Cockle as Geralt of Rivera – if Cockle’s voice seems familiar, it’s because he also voices Geralt in The Witcher video game series. Jaskier will also be voiced by a familiar actor from the video games, Joey Batey. The new film, based on one of the original Witcher stories, sees Geralt investigating a series of attacks in a seaside town, eventually finding himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople.
Zombies on a high-speed train. That’s all you need to know about the action-packed horror-thriller Train to Busan. In the 2016 film, Gong Woo stars as a father trying to keep himself and his daughter alive after a zombie outbreak spreads through South Korea. As they travel through the country on a high-speed train, they have to sequester themselves on board while fighting off their infected attackers.
Honeymoon Crasher (Feb. 12)
Writer-director Nicolas Cuche delivers the new French comedy Honeymoon Crasher, about a man whose fiancée dumps him at the altar and takes his mother on his planned honeymoon. The comedy stars French comedian Michèle Laroque and Belgian actor Julien Frison.
Felicity and Scandal actor Scott Foley stars in the new original rom-com La Dolce VIlla as Eric, a father who travels to Italy to stop his daughter from buying up an old home she wants to restore and renovate. Thinking that his daughter Olivia (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin’s Maia Reficco) is making a huge mistake with her life, he makes the trip, but finds something new to focus on when he meets an Italian named Francesca (Violante Placido) who gives him a reason to stay.
In the new Swedish rom-com Love Forever, the wedding celebration for couple Hanna and Samuel takes an unexpected turn for the worse thanks to their meddling family. The Stockholm-based couple plans to get married on the gorgeous island of Gotland, but when imposing friends and family members force their traditions on the couple, Hanna runs away leaving everyone wondering whether there will even be a wedding.
Demon City is a live-action Japanese action film adaptation of the beloved Oni Goroshu comic, which was known for its brutal violence. In the film, written and directed by Seiji Tanaka, Toma Ikuta stars as hitman Shuhei Sakata who seeks revenge for his wife and daughter by fighting the members of a shadowy masked criminals who control the city of Shinjo. The film arrives on Feb. 27.
After Paris police officer Antoine Cerda is reassigned from the prestigious Investigation and Intervention Brigade to the Anti-Crime Brigade, he turns his back on his former unit. But after three of his former colleagues are either killed or mysteriously go missing, he goes rogue and launches his own investigation. eventually exposing secrets and rivalries within the department that could put him in danger. The new French-language action thriller arrives to Netflix Feb. 28.
