Olaf Sholz, Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron are getting stuffy about US interference in European affairs. We were grateful for a bit of interference in the 1940s and it’s not as if we’re blameless with the Labour Party sending people to campaign for Kamala Harris. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Europe and the US are, after all, allies and, importantly, NATO allies, and our safety from foreign invasion depends on the USA. Some frank exchanges between allies should not give seasoned European politicians an attack of the vapours. Suck it up guys and join the debate.
Mark Zuckerberg made a telling remark about the way things will be post Jan 20th: “We are going to work with President Trump to push back on governments around the world going after American companies and pushing to censor more,” Zuckerberg said. “Europe has an ever-increasing number of laws institutionalizing censorship.”
Currently the Brussels Eurocrats are all in a tizz about Musk interviewing the head of Germany’s AfD on an X live-stream. The Eurocrats control just as big a megaphone as Musk and should reply by debating the issues not by moaning about interference
