Apple launched the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models with major changes in design and improved cameras. One of the biggest improvements on the iPhone 15 Pro is its ability to capture Spatial Videos for the Vision Pro. The feature is exclusively available on the ‘Pro’ models, as the standard models are not capable of doing so at this stage. However, Apple will bring the feature to the standard iPhone models later this year. A new $3 app has emerged that aims to do a major job recording Spatial Videos on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Spatialify allows the iPhone 15 Pro to record Spatial Video in 4K at 60 fps

Spotted by UploadVR, the new Spatialify app can be downloaded from the App Store and costs only $3 but does a much better job than the camera app on the iPhone 15 Pro. The app can record Spatial Videos in HDR at 1080p at 60 fps or 4K at 30 fps. When you compare the app to the iPhone 15 Pro’s camera app, the resolution and frames per second are both higher, as the iPhone records at 1080p at 30 fps only.

Note that the iPhone 15 Pro did not feature support for Spatial Video recording until the company unveiled the Vision Pro. Soon after, Apple released iOS 17.2 to the general public which only brought support to the ‘Pro’ model of the iPhone 15. If you do not have a Vision Pro, then there is no point in buying the app, as the depth of the video can not be experienced on the iPhone’s display.

If you are interested in checking out the new app for yourself, take note that the Spatial Video takes up a lot of space on your iPhone. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro records Spatial Video in 1080p at 30 fps and takes 130MB per minute. This means that recording the video in higher resolution and higher frames could cost you a lot of storage on the iPhone. It would be wise to invest in a good portable SSD that you can connect to your iPhone via USB-C.

As mentioned, the Spatialify app is priced at $3 and can be downloaded through the App Store on your iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. How do you like the new app? Do you think Apple will offer these upgrades with the iPhone 16 Pro this year?
