Among the many optional activities you can complete in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are the World Intel events, which allow you to experience more of the game’s expansive world.

Among the World Intel events in the game are combat-focused events called Fiend Intel. To complete these events, you must clear three objectives, such as staggering enemies or preventing certain things from happening. The latter can sometimes be difficult, like in the Zemze Breaks Fiend Intel 2 event in the Junon Region.

The fiend featured in the Junon Region Fiend Intel 2 event is the Whymzelett, a variation of the regular enemy Zemzelett found in the Junon Region. To clear the event, you must prevent any of the two Whymzeletts from taking flight after it uses the Soothing Breeze ability, a special healing ability that forces the enemy to stop for a few seconds.

What makes clearing this condition somewhat difficult is the fact that your characters are pushed back while Soothing Breeze is active and that they like using it at seemingly random times. The only way to stop them from taking flight after they use the ability is by staggering them.

To do so effectively, equip Cloud and your other two party members with Ice materia, as the Whimzelett is weak against ice elemental attacks. At the start of the fight, fill the ATB gauges of your three party members by switching between them or using Synergy Skills, and keep the charge until Soothing Breeze is eventually used. When this happens, use Cloud’s Firebolt Blade to prevent getting blown back by the enemy and command the other characters to cast Blizzard spells. This should be enough to stagger the Whimzelett, but if not, use Cloud’s Focused Thrust as soon as he is done with Firebolt Blade.

At this point, the battle could be going two ways. If you have enough resources, you can attempt to finish off the enemy, taking advantage of the Stagger damage multiplier or focus on the other Whymzelett while the other is down. As there’s a strong element of chance here, you may have to repeat the battle a few times to complete this Fiend Intel’s most annoying objective.

As for the party members to bring alongside Cloud, Red XIII, and Aerith work great for a few reasons. The former can deal decent Stagger damage even when the enemy isn’t pressured with the Sidewinder ability, while the former can use Arcane Ward to cast spells twice in a row. Tifa is also a very good choice, as her triangle attacks can increase the Stagger damage multiplier, making it easier to take out a Whymzelett once it is staggered.
