An earlier leak revealed that Samsung is bringing a plethora of features to its Galaxy S24 lineup, but one tipster claims that the top-end model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, will have one trick up its sleeve that will not be available for the remaining two. When it comes to 4K video recording, the latest rumor claims that Samsung will introduce a 120FPS option, though having this feature is one thing, and knowing about its limitations is another.

4K 120FPS video recording rumor on the Galaxy S24 Ultra left out key details, such as time limit and storage requirements

Samsung’s current flagship, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, supports both 8K and 4K video recording modes, so it is likely that the Galaxy S24 Ultra also offers the option to capture footage at 8K, though Ice Universe did not mention any details regarding this feature. What he did say in this latest post on X is that a new 4K 120FPS option will be available, doubling the maximum supported framerate currently available for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is 4K 60FPS. While the tipster did not mention which sensor would support this mode, the primary 200MP unit would probably be responsible.

The availability of a 4K 120FPS option for the Galaxy S24 Ultra opens up plenty of opportunity for content creators, as it allows users to record slow-motion videos, giving them extra flexibility for editing purposes. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has already been praised by legendary British film director Sir Ridley Scott for its imaging prowess, so there is little doubt that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will raise the bar in this regard. However, capturing at this taxing resolution can result in overheating problems, which Ice Universe has not mentioned.

For the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the maximum time limit for recording 8K videos was 10 minutes, though some users have reported using the flagship longer without overheating problems. It should also be mentioned that the 4K 120FPS option will be a storage guzzler, so in addition to requiring heaps of onboard memory, the write speeds need to be blazing fast.

Thankfully, according to an earlier specifications leak, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in the 1TB storage variant, and since Samsung is reported to use the faster UFS 4.0 technology, it should easily record such videos without any performance loss. Ice Universe has not responded to the ample questions asked in his latest post, indicating that he wants his followers to be in suspense as to what Samsung will unveil a couple of weeks from now, so as always, we will have all the required information lined up for you.
