so, 64 years ago, started a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of March 15, 1961

The story continues:

A team of engineers is engaged in the production of general and special application reports for distribution to interested people throughout the world.

One of the main lines of investigation being followed is into the effects of voltage surges, and special equipment has been built for this purpose.

Work is also being carried out on the construction of a 110 kV, 2 ampere EHT cupply.

This is being used to investigate the problem associated with the connection of large numbers of silicon rectifiers in series.

These problems include such items as unequal reverse impedance, unequal hole storage and the physical problem of laying out a unit which accommodates about 2,000 rectifiers.
