Apple is reportedly gearing up to tackle one of the iPhone’s longest-running complaints — battery life. According to a Bloomberg report citing anonymous sources, the company plans to roll out a new AI-powered battery management system as part of iOS 19, expected to be announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
The new feature would use on-device artificial intelligence to analyze individual usage patterns and optimize charging and power consumption accordingly. That could mean fewer empty battery surprises throughout the day, with your iPhone making smarter decisions about when to throttle background processes, adjust performance or delay certain tasks until the phone is plugged in.

While Apple has introduced battery health features in the past — such as Optimized Battery Charging and the Battery Health menu — this new system sounds more dynamic and personalized. Instead of one-size-fits-all settings, your phone could learn from how you use it and adapt in real time to extend battery life without sacrificing performance.
As always with early reports based on unnamed sources, it’s wise not to depend on this news. Plans can shift internally and features tested during development don’t always make it to public release.
However, if Apple is leaning into AI to make your iPhone last longer between charges, it could be a practical step forward in a year when artificial intelligence is expected to play a major role across the company’s ecosystem. We’ll likely hear more at WWDC in June, where iOS 19 and other software updates will take center stage.Â
