The Halo series could soon make its debut on PlayStation 5 with a yet-to-be-announced game, according to datamined information.
Known Halo series dataminer @gruntdotapi confirmed a few hours ago that they have discovered a new title on the RETAIL API that’s supposedly compatible with both Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5. As this game has a new ID, it is very likely not a port of Halo Infinite or of the Master Chief Collection, but a brand-new game that has yet to be announced. Unfortunately, there’s no indication in the datamined information of when this game will be revealed, but the dataminer believes the announcement should be made relatively soon.
🚨 I honestly didn’t expect to come across this today… But I can now OFFICIALLY CONFIRM:
A Halo game is coming (very soon) to #PlayStation. As of now, there’s no sign of a version for the #NintendoSwitch (2).

While @gruntdotapi hasn’t provided any evidence to back the information they have shared, the dataminer has proved multiple times in the past to be a reliable source of information, as they have often revealed new content coming to Halo Infinite every time the game is updated before the official reveal, so there’s a very high chance that something is indeed brewing, and that the series will likely make its debut on PlayStation 5 in the future. At the end of last Sunday’s Xbox Game Showcase, Phil Spencer teased that Xbox 2026’s lineup will include the return of a classic that has been with them since the beginning, which is widely believed to be Halo, so it is possible this return of the series will also launch on PlayStation 5 at some point, especially if it is the rumored remake of the first entry in the franchise, as there wouldn’t be a better way to introduce the franchise to a whole new audience than with a modernized version of the first entry in the series.
The latest entry in the Halo series is Halo Infinite, now available on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One. You can learn more about the game by checking out Chris’s review.
