Apple has announced macOS Tahoe 26 with an intuitive new glass-like design called ‘Liquid Glass,’ and the new UI elements are available throughout different platforms. Other than the new design language, macOS Tahoe 26 also brings a handful of nifty features and changes to the table, which will boost productivity and enhance user experience.
Apple refreshes macOS with a modern look, productivity features, and deeper iPhone integration across devices
The new visual design language comes with Liquid Glass UI elements, updated app icons in the Dock, a redesigned Control Center, and much more. This will give the Mac an updated look and feel. The Control Center has also received an upgrade with the same glass elements. You will find the new look in different areas of the operating system, which gives the entire platform a more fresh look and feel.
While a new look is a welcome addition, the company also enhanced existing features and offered new ones as well, which will boost overall productivity as part of the company’s efforts to improve the utility aspect of Macs. macOS Tahoe 26 now gets a dedicated Phone app, which is the company’s first step towards a cellular Mac. For now, it will sync recent calls, contacts, and voicemails through your iPhone.

The Spotlight experience on the Mac has also been overhauled in macOS Tahoe, which will give you easy access to anything on your Mac. It now includes the listings from apps on your iPhone that launch via iPhone Mirroring when selected. Additionally, the results from files, folders, events, and apps are combined into a single view for your ease. Furthermore, documents from third-party cloud services are also incorporated into the search results. The new Quick Notes also allows users to run contextual commands based on their search query.
Other than this, the iPhone’s Live Activities will now also be available on the Mac and can be accessed through the Menu Bar on top. Even though Apple Intelligence was neglected at WWDC 2025, the company made sure to incorporate live language translations into the FaceTime and Messages apps. The Shortcuts library has also been updated to expose Apple Intelligence actions, with improvements for Image Playground and Genmoji.
Similar to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, your Mac now gets a dedicated Games app, which acts as a center for all games that you are playing. You can also check your friends’ gaming activities. The new Game Overlay feature gives users access to settings and chats without having to leave the full-screen experience. There is a boatload of additional nifty features like customizable chat backgrounds in the Messages app. The Journal app also comes to the Mac with macOS Tahoe 26, as Apple streamlined it across different platforms.
All in all, macOS Tahoe is a major update not just in terms of design, but features that boost productivity. You can check out more details on the platform here. We will be covering more details related to the software updates, so be sure to keep an eye out.
