The G.Skill CSO-DIMM is a new form factor DDR5 memory for high performance, specially crafted for the ASRock Deskmini B860 system.
G.Skill Brings ‘Clock Driver’ on its New CSO-DIMM DDR5 Memory, Enhancing Stability and Performance on DeskMini B860
Desktop PCs usually go with DDR5 memories such as UDIMM, RIDMM, and CUDIMM DDR5 memories that offer enhanced performance, but G.Skill has added one more. Despite being made with the SO-DIMM form factor, which is specifically deployed on laptops, G.Skill has partnered with ASRock to deploy the new “CSO-DIMM” memory into the DeskMini B860 desktop system.
This new CSO-DIMM DDR5 memory brings a high transfer speed at decently low latency for improved performance on the Intel Core Ultra 200-based system. The ASRock DeskMini B860 will be the first system to utilize the CSO-DIMM memory and will feature an Intel Core Ultra 9 285 processor with 24 cores. The motherboard is the ASRock B860M-STX, seated inside a compact chassis that takes less space on the desk while delivering impressive performance in CPU-oriented workloads.
As per G.Skill’s testing, the CSO-DIMM DDR5 memory can achieve up to 8133 MT/s with 2x 24 GB configuration with a latency of CL46-52-52-130 on the DeskMini B860. The screenshot shows the memory speed, latency, and other details in CPU-Z as well as Task Bar, revealing the true potential of G.Skill CSO-DIMM.
The difference between the CSO-DIMM and regular SO-DIMM is the Clock Driver, which helps the CSO-DIMM to deliver better performance and stability through better retiming and distribution of the clock signal from the processor. Such memories excel at signal integrity and help them achieve higher clock speeds.
As far as the ASRock DeskMini B860 goes, it is a new launch by ASRock that offers the latest Intel Core Ultra 200 platform for higher productivity and comes equipped with modern connectivity options. The hardware resides inside a small but sleek and minimalistic PC chassis that has a fully ventilated side panel for better airflow. Apart from a fast hardware configuration, it comes with several USB ports for connectivity, including Type C, Type A, and Thunderbolt 4 ports.
With support for up to quad independent displays, the DeskMini B860 is ready to deliver great flow in productivity and can be used for professional workflows, immersive multimedia applications, and advanced digital signage. Currently, there is no word on the pricing and availability of ASRock DeskMini B860 and G.Skill CSO-DIMM, so, stay tuned for more updates.
