The feature could only be turned on from the BIOS but now can be turned on via the Windows app, but there is a catch.
Gigabyte introduces easier X3D Turbo Mode activation via AORUS AI Snatch software in just a few clicks
One of the popular motherboard makers, Gigabyte, has recently announced that its “X3D Turbo Mode” can now be activated via its Windows AORUS AI Snatch software. So, users now have the choice to activate the feature either from BIOS or Windows OS. However, the effect will only take place when the system is ‘restarted.’
In a press release, it announced that it is providing users with an “intuitive new method” that will allow them to increase their gaming performance directly through the AORUS AI Snatch software. The process involves navigating to the Flag Icon inside the app, which Gigabyte explains below:
- Run live update on GCC to get the latest AORUS AI SNATCH version B24.11.19.01
- Navigate to the flag icon in the lower-left corner
- Click the flag icon to activate X3D Turbo Mode
- Confirm the pop-up window by clicking “OK”
- System will automatically restart to activate the feature
Once activated, the system will reboot, and to turn it off, users will need to choose the “Discard” option from the app. In a nutshell, this won’t be a feature that gamers can activate on the fly. Previously, the X3D Turbo Mode could only be synchronized with the AORUS AI Snatch, showing the status of the feature whether it is on or off.
The X3D Turbo Mode is Gigabyte’s proprietary feature that tweaks some CPU parameters in order to enhance the gaming performance. It assigns CPU cores to the gaming applications to let the processors focus completely on the games and does some bandwidth tuning and hardware power balancing as well. However, the final performance also depends on the memory parameters.
Gigabyte previously showcased the performance numbers with X3D Turbo Mode activated, and according to their own tests, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D was able to achieve a 3-5% performance boost in a few games. The previous gen Ryzen 7 7950X3D, as well as the latest gen Ryzen 9 9950X, did better as they both have Dual CCDs, one of which gets disabled in the X3D Turbo Mode, which drastically affects the gaming performance.
