What caught my eye this week was the rolling saga of Intel’s Chips Act grants and the USA’s bid to regain leading edge chip manufacturing process technology.

Aimed at industrial and professional end-users, Raspberry Pi has revealed a ‘Compute Module‘ version of the Raspberry Pi 5 – that is a 55 x 40mm PCB with four 2.4GHz Cortex-A76 cores, display interfaces, wireless interfaces, security, flash options up to 32Gbyte and error-corrected RAM options up to 16Gbyte. All wired connections are through two many-pin connectors, for which a development and break-out board with standard interface connectors was announced at the same time.

What caught my eye was the UK’s In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM) Conference for 2025 will be taking place in Belfast. The city previously hosted the UK Space Conference in 2023.
