ASUS general manager announces company’s plans to deliver BTF X870 motherboards for AMD Ryzen CPUs
It looks like ASUS has finally understood the demand for the connector-less motherboard design. Even though it refused to bring its innovative “BTF” design on its Intel Z890 motherboard lineup, the company isn’t going to stop making BTF motherboards. In fact, it will bring the BTF design in future Intel motherboards, as we reported recently.
For AMD CPU owners, this won’t be a distant dream since it has announced its plans to release X870 BTF motherboards for the latest Zen 4/Zen 5 processors. @unikoshardware reports from Bilibili that the General Manager of ASUS China has confirmed that ASUS X870 BTF motherboards are going to be released soon.
While GM didn’t explicitly say that these motherboards are going to launch at CES 2025, he did confirm that these will launch alongside the newer Ryzen 9000X3D processors at CES 2025.

Hence, it’s safe to assume that the ASUS X870 BTF will launch at CES, which means those who want to build a cable-free system with Ryzen 9000 and 9000X3D processors can opt for such motherboards. Almost all the connectors on these boards are at the back, which requires special cutouts in the motherboard tray inside a case. Even though there aren’t a lot of cases that support the BTF connectors, compared to the past year, there have been plenty of launches, including the Thermaltake 600 Tower, which we reviewed recently, which supports such motherboard designs.
Then there are GameMax F36 and F46 PC cases, which are probably the most affordable options to support the back-connector motherboards. Apart from ASUS, Gigabyte has Stealth, and MSI has Project Zero motherboard designs, which haven’t been deployed on the latest X870 motherboards. We don’t know if they have any plans to do such, but if ASUS becomes successful with its X870 BTF release, both Gigabyte and MSI may introduce their own models.
